The Cannonau Classico "Dule" from the Sardinian winery Gabbas is a harmonious, smooth and intensely aromatic red that interprets the age-old marriage of grape variety and terroir with extreme fidelity. A local biotype of Spanish Garnacha and French Grenache, Cannonau gives wines with a sunny, Mediterranean character and a broad, suave and satisfying sip. Grapes of excellent quality, precise winemaking and long aging allow us to appreciate an aromatic palette with dense and complex aromas, which describe very well the characteristics of the grape variety.
"Dule" Cannonau Classico was born in the Gabbas estate, which covers about 30 hectares, located on the first Supramonte reliefs, in the heart of Barbagia. The area is characterized by soils originating from the disintegration of granitic rocks and by the presence of a mild climate, influenced by sea breezes and with strong temperature ranges between day and night temperatures. The wine is made from Cannonau grapes from the "Dule" vineyard, which is forty years old and located at an altitude between 240 and 350 meters above sea level. The vines are managed with short pruning and low yields, so as to bring to maturity a few bunches of remarkable aromatic intensity. The grapes ferment in temperature-controlled steel tanks, with maceration on the skins lasting 20-25 days. The wine matures for one year in French oak barriques and completes aging with another 12 months in bottle
The red Cannonau Classico "Dule" Gabbas is a wine with a strong territorial character, expressing the typical varietal notes of this great red grape variety, emblem of the Sardinian winemaking tradition. Structured and powerful, it is perfect to taste in combination with mixed grilled meats or spit-roasted game. In the glass it is dark ruby red in color and expresses intense aromas of small dark berry fruits, blueberry, black currant, wild blackberry, red plum, hints of spice and nuances of officinal and balsamic herbs. Warm and enveloping, it has ripe, fine tannins, well integrated with rich, harmonious fruit, leading toward a balanced and very persistent finish.
