Blauburgunder Meinklang 2017

The Blauburgunder by Meinklang is a red wine produced in the famous Austrian region of Burgenland using Pinot Nero. The renowned Burgundy grape variety has adapted well to the sunny yet cool climate of this historic wine region, located right on the border with Hungary. It is a young and fragrant version, vinified in steel and cement, without the use of wood, thus preserving a pleasant fruity character and a direct and straightforward expressiveness, with rich varietal aromas on the typical notes of small berries. It is a ready-to-drink label, enjoyable right away, that captivates with its smoothness and mineral freshness.

The Blauburgunder wine is one of the most typical reds from the eastern regions of Austria. It is produced by a very large winery that manages an estate covering over 2000 hectares, which includes forests, meadows, pastures for animals, various crops, and about seventy hectares of vineyards, cultivated with the traditional grapes of the region. Meinklang chose 30 years ago to work in a regime of organic farming and also in the winery follows winemaking processes that are still artisanal and very respectful of the high quality of always excellent raw materials. Its wines stand out for a profile of elegance, finesse, and expressive purity, always very consistent with the characteristics of the grape varieties and the pedoclimatic peculiarities of the Burgenland region.

The Blauburgunder red from Meinklang is born from Pinot Nero vines cultivated in Seewinkel on soils characterized by the presence of ancient volcanic substrates. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts takes place in stainless steel and cement. Before bottling, the wine rests for a few months in steel and cement tanks. In the glass, it reveals a bright, clear ruby red color, almost transparent. On the nose, it expresses a very clean and fine bouquet, characterized by aromas of small red berries, cherry, wild strawberry, slightly spicy and smoky notes. The sip is light, fragrant, and balanced, very delicate and with a refined tannic texture. The finish is of good persistence and pleasantly refreshing.
