The Casa Raia ‘Bevilo’ Sangiovese is a Tuscan interpretation of great depth and taste balance. On the slopes of Montalcino, in a renovated farmhouse from the 1200s, Casa Raia winery started a project in 2006 to restore the old vineyards, paying particular attention to agronomic operations according to the noble thought that "wine is made in the vineyard." The cultivated hectares are just 4.5, entirely grown under certified organic management in respect of the rhythms of nature. The same meticulous care is taken in the winery, where the transformation process of the raw material must be gently supported, without particular interventions, but aiming not to damage or distort the inherent characteristics of the fruit.
The ‘Bevilo’ Sangiovese from Casa Raia is produced from a solid base of Sangiovese, to which a small percentage of Canaiolo is added. The vineyards are located in the Montalcino area at an altitude of 375 meters, on soils rich in rocky fragments of galestro and dendrite. After manual harvesting, there is a careful selection of the bunches, which are then destemmed and gravity-fed into tanks.steel, where alcoholic fermentation takes place with the sole aid of indigenous yeasts. The wine is then transferred to barriques and tonneaux for aging for 24 months. Throughout the winemaking process, the mass does not undergo filtration.
‘Bevilo’ Sangiovese Casa Raia has a ruby red hue with garnet reflections. The nose evokes perceptions of cherry, plum, and sweet spices, enriched by blood and earthy notes. Round and balanced tasting, of medium body and intensity, with good tannins and balanced freshness. It is a gastronomic red that recalls the Tuscan land, with a delicate and integrated internationality.
